SAR1 by Iskra Shipyard
Monday, 27 March 2023
SAR1 by Iskra Shipyard, the first in a series of boats for emergency medical intervention at sea, was officially handed over to the Croatian Ministry of Health.
The SAR1 (Search and Rescue boat) first underwent rigorous testing to ensure it was structurally flawless and could withstand even the harshest sea conditions. A set of complex tests includes the boat's resistance to a free fall from a height of two meters, the resistance of the boat's hull to the impact of the bow on a solid shore at a speed of 4 knots, and a test of the boat's independent return to its initial position after turning sideways by 180 degrees.
While testing the boat's resistance to a 180-degree side roll, the Self-Righting test, Iskra Shipyard Director Dr. Aleš Ekar personally entered the boat's cabin. This demonstrated his trust in the expertise and ability of the designers and shipbuilders who built the SAR1 at our shipyard in Šibenik, Croatia.
