Main features and benefits of the MultiPoint Metering & Control concept
Wednesday, 26 August 2020
Following new developments and requirements in the market, our dynamically organized R&D team is constantly bringing innovative and reliable solutions.
As already presented in our last webinar, the MultiPoint Metering & Control concept provides measurement of energy consumption and control over individual loads that enables the user to take control of energy as well as to run advanced monitoring.
The main benefits of this concept are highlighted below:
- Saving energy and money for yourself / your customers
- Intelligent energy control of all Home/Building/Industry systems on a single device
- Increase energy efficiency
- View detailed statistics over energy use and individual loads you can’t get anywhere else
- Smarter and sustainable way of living
I. MultiPoint Metering
The whole concept starts with metering as we use different types of meters, such as basic one-phase three-phase energy meters for energy and power measurements.
For metering purposes, we provide also some more sophisticated devices for different environments used to measure more parameters such as power quality.
Besides that, there is also a possibility to measure all parameters of the network regarding harmonic components, total harmonic distortions following EN50160 standards, etc.
Devices can be easily adapted depending on the environment and format of data to be collected. Several different types of sensors can be used such as sensors for heating, temperature, etc.
II. Control
Our concept offers 3 types of communication including ethernet, wifi, and wifi with external antenna.
The latest can be used in low signal environments where the new antenna boosts the strength of the signal.
For control purposes, we use bistable switches that fit well with our communication devices.
For more complicated environments, we provide several different supervision relays and transducers which are used for wind and solar power generation, measuring values from the grid, etc.
III. Monitoring
The last component of our MultiPoint Metering and Control concept is monitoring. To monitor devices and the whole system,
we have developed a web interface that is running directly on smart gateways.
Below is provided an example of the data smart gateways could show.
Besides data for energy and power, another great feature smart gateways could show from meters is also the value per phase.
This is very powerful information and an important indication for the network itself.
Out of many different analysis and features, the application allows you to easily see which phase is overloaded and which phase underloaded.
Having all the data at your disposal, you can easily make a balance of your internal network by yourself using basic measuring equipment.
Part of monitoring is also our powerful MiQen software that enables 1 to 1 reading and parameterization of values from any device.
On the other hand, MiSmart software is a perfect tool for utility companies, energy suppliers and other parties on both ends of a supply-demand chain.
It can be used for distributed smart grid data monitoring solutions as well as a site energy monitoring solutios.
Real-life applications
Real-life applications of these devices in a private house and industrial environment can be seen below as they provide hands-on insights in energy flow, energy monitoring, and control.
a) Private house environment
b) Industry environment
c) Video demonstration
Below we present a simple video demonstration of a single phone click triggering lightning of industrial facilities in sequence, segment by segment,
to decrease negative side effects of high inrush currents and prolonging the lifetime of your industrial equipment.
